GENERAL REQUIREMENTS OF BOARD MEMBER OR OFFICER

• Passion and ideas about creating a community and event centered on the Burning Man principles.

• Business or event experience preferred.

• Varying backgrounds. It would be ideal to get individuals who come from different backgrounds. Boards are most successful when they have people who bring different things to the table, e.g. attorneys, accountants, event organizers, insurance people, artists, computer jocks, musicians.

• Financial wherewithal. This is not mandatory. The independent Board member would not have any cash infusion requirements, except in the unlikely event of a lawsuit. You may also be required to personally guarantee certain obligations.

COMMITMENT
• 3 year term. Must be able to commit to fulfill a full term in his/her position.
• One meeting a month. More meetings as event approaches.
• Respond to board emails in a timely manner.
• At least one gate shift during the event.
• Further time as needed to fulfill duties and ensure a smooth and fulfilling event.

EXPERIENCE (requirements listed by specific role)

President : business and/or event experience is mandatory. So is the ability to lead and coordinate people and processes.

Vice President : similar to president, must be able to fill in for president in his/her absence

Secretary : some corporate experience is preferred as this person is in charge of official corporate matters, such as corporate filings, and setting times for and recording minutes of shareholder meetings and board meetings.

Treasurer : should be experienced in basic accounting and/or bookkeeping, including the reading or preparing of financial statements

RESPONSIBILITIES AND LIABILITIES OF BOARD OFFICERS

Can be sued.
If there is a lawsuit against the entity for whatever reason, the owners, board members and officers may be sued individually. For example, if someone hurts him/herself at the event, that person, or his/her family could sue. The event liability insurance would most likely cover the damages, but the injured party may want to collect more than that. If so, then they may also sue the entity, owners, board members and officers.

However, unless there is gross negligence involved, the board members and officers could most likely be removed from the lawsuit by petitioning the court. However, they would need to do this via the legal process which will take time and paying an attorney to file the appropriate documents. At a minimum, this could expose an owner to expenses in the $500-$1000 range in a standard case.

In the unlikely event that the suit is not dismissed then the individuals, together or as a team, would have to defend themselves in court, and pay any damages awarded to the injured party, above and beyond the insurance limits. The reason that this is unlikely is that if reasonable care is taken on potentially dangerous situations, meaning that we have policies in place (alcohol, fire, etc.), and don’t turn a blind eye to potential dangerous situations as they arise, that the owners, board and officers would be excluded from a suit based on state laws and corporate law in place that protect them. That’s why we have an entity.

The entity may also choose (if affordable) to purchase directors and officers insurance, which would cover them in the event of a lawsuit.

Also, keep in mind that anything we state in writing, including our meeting minutes, and email, may be admissible in court. In other words, these should be strictly formal documents.

The types of activities that the board are responsible for include the following:
1. Determine the organization's mission and purpose. It is the board's responsibility to create and review a statement of mission and purpose that articulates the organization's goals, means, and primary constituents served.
2. Select the "chief" and their responsibilities or, in the case of owners, the board members..
3. Provide proper financial oversight. The board must assist in developing the annual budget and ensuring that proper financial controls are in place.
4. Ensure adequate resources. One of the board's foremost responsibilities is to provide adequate resources for the organization to fulfill its mission.
5. Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability. The board is ultimately responsible for ensuring adherence to legal standards and ethical norms.
6. Ensure effective planning. Boards must actively participate in an overall event planning process and assist in implementing and monitoring the plan's goals.
7. Recruit and orient new board members and assess board performance. All boards have a responsibility to articulate prerequisites for candidates, orient new members, and periodically and comprehensively evaluate its own performance.
8. Enhance the organization's public standing. The board should clearly articulate the organization's mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public and garner support from the community.
9. Determine, monitor, and strengthen the organization's programs and services. The board's responsibility is to determine which programs are consistent with the organization's mission and to monitor their effectiveness.
10. The board should ensure that the officers and organization has the immoral and professional support he or she needs to further the goals of the organization.

Apo DPW needs wooden pallets and volunteers

Hello folks

I got a few responses from my posts before.
Thanks to those who did. We need more people.
Come on volunteers lets make shit happen.
This is gonna be a great event.
We need wooden pallets to go to HAR.
They need to be wood. No plastic, stains, paint or spills on them.
They can be brought down work weekend if you're coming to work
or you can bring some down when you show up for the event.

Also if you know you want to be part of Apo DPW then please go to the web site
and sign up for what ever you can. We need work weekend, early Thursday, and
Sunday, Monday cleanup/load out volunteers.

Apogaea - Whar it be?

Over thar. . . at Happy Ass Ranch in Park County, Colorado. We regret the late confirmation of our site for this year's event, we've been diligently evaluating a couple of alternative venues up 'til the eleventh hour. Options are good, but we determined HAR is the most appropriate property for Apogaea this year..

Some members of our community have expressed worries about this location. We want to acknowledge we understand and have shared their concerns. We've met in person with Park County public safety officials regarding our location. Our proactive contact and subsequent dialogue around this years event have been positive. Largely that's been thanks to you. . . as the artistic nature of our event, the success of our leave-no-trace ethos, our attention to detail on event organization, the professionalism of our public safety team (thanks Rangers & EMS!), the extent of our volunteer participation. . . these are all things that distinguish Apogaea in the eyes of permitting officials. It's clearly understood that last year's law enforcement activity was not associated with our event. Potential venues have good impressions of our event and seem eager to work with us. We like it that way, so thank you for doing all your positive voodoo you do do so well.

We'll continue to evaluate site options for Apogaea 2010 and beyond, so we appreciate your suggestions for future locations. Please do not hesitate to contact us with your ideas, questions or concerns.

Oh yeah. . . Apogaea's gonna freakin' rock your ramble downside up & sideways in through the out door. Those of you who experienced Friday's offworld mining colony, where the Expat Aliens set down their saucer on the crust. . . you know what I'm talkin' 'bout. Already I feel advance tremors of this Saturday's seismic rumble when a certain volcano goes active. I'm aware of several Apogaea theme crews who've been busily cross-pollinating, mutating, and getting ready to bring it on. And all the recent precipitation looks good for holding off summer fire restrictions.

So see ya round the volcano, if not this Saturday then hopefully in June.

GENERATORS & QUIET HOURS

By popular vote from the community and the Apogaea board, there will be a mandatory "Reduced Hours and Quiet Hours" for sound/theme camps at Apogaea this year.

Reduced hours will be from 4-6am
Quiet hours will be 6am - 10am.

This means turn off all generators, and subsequently all amplified music. FOUR - count em 4 glorious hours of peace and quiet - well, at least 4 hours without the megawatts thump of amplified music. That's enough to get a good nap in.
Sound levels will be enforced with decibel meters.

Also don't forget we will be enforcing enclosed generators. Generator noise must not exceed 70dB at 10 feet - that's about as loud as an average passenger car. Any generator that is found to be in violation will be turned off until the noise issue is remedied with better enclosure techniques. We're not trying to be Nazis about this, we just need to make sure everyone is being respectful in such a limited, but beautiful space.

TO PORTA POTTY OR PORT YOUR POTTY

We will be adding several more portalets this year with a guaranteed daily cleaning, which will hopefully result in each one being used a bit less. And of course, you can always do your part by eating and drinking less!

Undoubtedly the *ick* factor of public bathrooms after a night of partying is universal to burns. Like the joys of cleaning playa dust out of crevices you had no idea even existed in your body, it is one of the things we love/hate about these events. We'll do the best we can to make it as tolerable as possible though.

And remember - with enough leak proof re-usable grocery bags and a (hopefully!) private setting, no one ever *really* has to use the public bathrooms...

skilled folks (constructions etc), chainsaws, tools.

APO Effigy Workshop

“Oh gosh!”, ”This thing is getting out of control”, “How big is this thing going to get?”, “Will it even fit in this warehouse?” , “That panel looks awesome!”, “That is only held together with glue?!”... These are but a few of the comments that recent visitors to the Phoenix Asylum have made about this year’s Apogaea effigy. Come out and see for yourself.

Where? The Phoenix Asylum on March 25st 4pm – 9PM for the next effigy workshop. Sorry for the late start but a couple Phoenix Asylum members (Steve & Dawn) are getting married earlier in the day and we can’t miss that! Hang around for late night and I’ll make sure that there’s food, drinks and good music to sit back and relax to.

We’ve pretty much completed the internal skeleton (those biscuits take some time to dry & clamp). Lighting is almost complete as well. During this weekend’s workshop we will begin cutting and applying the outer ¼” plywood to the exterior. This is when we are going to see the true form of the VolCANO. So bring your favorite pair of work gloves and eye protection as usual and let’s have some fun. No matter your knowledge or skill level you are guaranteed to be able to contribute and learn something at the same time.

Your participation at this event is required and not optional. Yes, drinking beer is participation!!! After all, FUN is our first and most important goal!

Apogaea Ranger Training

It's that time of year, where we start to prepare for Apogaea. And so we're offering offsite training for those who want to ranger out at Apo.

RANGERS- you know who you are!! Please let me know if you’re going to take a shift! We *know* you're coming- so grab your shift now while there's still good pickings!!

For those who want to Ranger, but haven't had the opportunity for training yet, there will be a full Ranger training session on Sunday afternoon, May 3rd. The session will last for 3-4 hours of discussion and role-playing. We will learn from the best as Duney Dan, Master BRC Ranger bestows upon us priceless drops of Rangerly wisdom distilled from his many years on the Playa- don't miss this rare opportunity to become a part of our khaki family! Training is mandatory for those who haven’t yet been through training, but even if you’ve trained, come join us for the fun!

For those of us who have radios, please bring your radio for practice. FRS/GMRS - Motorola brand is the best for compatibility reasons.

Rangers- ah yes, the men and women in khaki, who help solve problems, reorient the lost, summon help, and keep smiles on the faces of their fellow participants. If you can’t make the training, or are just curious about finding out more about the art of Rangering, why not spend a shift as a Deputy Ranger? Ride along for half a Ranger shift with a trained Ranger to see what its
all about, and help us make the most of our Ranger resources across the event! This is one of the best ways to meet lots of people, and a great way to have a direct, positive impact on the experience of other participants.

Duney Dan is a Black Rock Ranger Mentor, and will be sharing BRR technology on how to coordinate as rangers and how to handle "hot" situations. The main topics include The Art of Rangering, Preparation, Communication, F. L. A. M. E. (fundamental BRR tech), and Crisis Intervention. Bonus topics include Specialization, Who's Who, Authority Figurines, Radio Protocols, and "The Rules".

Your secret desire is to don the khaki and the utilikilt and spread the mellow... who could resist? Anyone wishing to fill the role of Trained Ranger at Apogaea should most definitely try to
make this training session.

Check the volunteer page at the main Apo website, ( www.apogaea. com ) for a schedule of volunteer shifts that will need coverage, we’ll be posting the schedule soon. If you're available to work only when the sign-up says the shift is already full, you'll still be welcome, but if you can swing a time that isn't fully covered, that's best.

If you have any old clothing they don't want anymore, we are looking for anything that we could turn into a costume which includes.. fabric (including scraps) , old clothing (shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, etc....), old costumes you wouldn't want yourself (including kids costumes), paint and any pieces of wood. Call for B.E.D. buddies

HELP IMPROVE SEX AT APOGAEA!!

Last year at Burning Man, I did some work for the Bureau of Erotic Discourse (B.E.D.), and had a great time. B.E.D. is a sex-positive group for preventing sexual misconduct and promoting sexual etiquette, communication and safety. I'm looking for volunteers to help me make the B.E.D. at Apo. I need 3 volunteers of any gender to co-lead an hour-long workshop on communication, and as many more as I can get to do publicity and spread information outside of the workshop. The workshop is great for folks who want to practice sexual communication skills, and I'd like to add ambassadors to spread information outside of the workshop. The sexually-charged feel of Burning Man events can be confusing, and I think B.E.D. has a great message to bring to our community.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's true! We have a winner! Congratulations to Stacey Lane. Her flyer and ticket design will be used on marketing materials for Apogaea 2009.

If you don't remember the name, Stacey is also the one who provided us with our much debated Apogaea Theme. If you didn't particularly like her Theme, well, just wait until you see her design. It will blow you away. You'll be rambling about it for weeks!

We received a total of 6 awesome designs and ran it through a voting panel consisting of 15 judges. Artists were kept anonymous to avoid any favoritism. Criteria for our decisions included: originality, clever synergies of visual elements, creative communication to the community and image & production quality.

2ND ROUND CREATIVE GRANT DEADLINE EXTENDED

The Apogaea Creative Committee will open up the Grant Cycle for ROUND TWO, starting February 9th.
We heard your plea that there are many smaller projects out there that do not need as much time to put together or need as much funding and we've answered it with an additional round of grants that are smaller in value. i.e. $25, $50, $100, $200.

GENERATORS & QUIET HOURS

By popular vote from the community and the Apogaea board, there will be a mandatory "Reduced Hours and Quiet Hours" for sound/theme camps at Apogaea this year.

Reduced hours will be from 4-6am
Quiet hours will be 6am - 10am.

This means turn off all generators, and subsequently all amplified music. FOUR - count em 4 glorious hours of peace and quiet - well, at least 4 hours without the megawatts thump of amplified music. That's enough to get a good nap in.
Sound levels will be enforced with decibel meters.

Also don't forget we will be enforcing enclosed generators. Generator noise must not exceed 70dB at 10 feet - that's about as loud as an average passenger car. Any generator that is found to be in violation will be turned off until the noise issue is remedied with better enclosure techniques. We're not trying to be Nazis about this, we just need to make sure everyone is being respectful in such a limited, but beautiful space.

Want to know who the fruitcakes are that do all the planning for Apogaea? Want to know if we are stuffing dollar bills into our jock straps or reinvesting it into the community? Would you like to tell us what you think while we sit around and drink?

We zealously invite you to relish in all the fun activities the Apogaea Board of Directors frolic in, at least once a month.

There will always be a 30 minute open session prior to our monthly meetings. You can do whatever you want during these 30 minutes, but you have to keep your clothes on. For the remainder of the meeting, you are invited to sit in while the board discusses issues pertaining to Apogaea.

Hello Apogaea,

I just wanted to thank the board for having meetings at The White Owl. Let us know if there's anything we can do to make it more comfortable. We really appreciate the business, and as always, we appreciate the hard work and dedication it takes to hold this event every year.

I wanted to invite the rest of the community to use the bar as an Apogaea and Burning Man planning place. Art projects, theme camps, the caravan to and from.... All this is welcome at The White Owl. I'll bring you your drinks, and you can brain storm, and we'll all get really excited and hyper together!

Come check us out anytime. Lots of free parking. I painted the whole building ... it's beautiful. The bar is 100 years old. We go to Burning Man and Apogaea, so we understand "how" you are....

Apogaea Lamplighters

I have been asked to set up lamplighters for Apogaea. Due to timing and Apogaea funds this may or may not be possible to pull together for this year, but we'll definately be able to pull it together for next year. I'm looking for people who want to help me research, plan, budget, build, shop, sew, and lamp light. The more help I have, the better the chances we have of pulling it off for this year. I have done a little research and am ready to bargain shop and start making plans. Later, I'll need help building lamp posts, sewing capes, ordering supplies, etc. Finally, I'll need help at Apogaea since I am unable to go this year. World Circus Year 2010 in Geneva

The Swiss have declared that 2010 is the year of Circus and have invited
the whole world to come to Geneva- want to join me?

I've been kicking this idea around for a few months now, but last
week I was in Boulder for a few days, and it really sunk in that this
pipe dream could come to life very easily. The basic
idea is to combine all of us into one wonderful hodge podge of a troupe
that will have some presence in Geneva for a season or so, but at any
given time there will only have to be a small handfull of us present and
performing.

From past experience I think we can all play nicely together and put on
an amazing street show, the only thing we need to do is put together a decent
looking DVD and get a rough estimate of how many people are seriously
interested. If it turns out there are a ton of us, or someone whats to
step things up a bit and work on some type of choreography,
music, props etc, I'm totally game, but at the same time simplicity seems
like a nice thing.

I know how much time we normally put into our conclave
performance pieces- and the fact that many of us live who knows where...
That said, I've got an amazing opera singer from Boulder whos interested
in coming along for the ride, and I might also have a few leads on an accordian player or two..

The submission deadline is just a few weeks away, but if
everyone who's interested sends me a quick bio/history of their
performing life, and any video clips of you or a group of us I'll take
care of the rest.

So what do you think- is it time to play somewhere new? Oh I almost
forgot, our name: Cuerpos Del Luz- like it?

The Pink Pussie Palace started as four independent ladies wanting to share their passion for the community along with love within themselves. As with any theme camp “there’s a great story” and for us this weekend was one hell of an ending.

What an overwhelming Apogaea. From the unexpected guests with bad manners at the beginning to pulling off every thing we planned The Pussies of The Pink Pussie Palace would like to thank all of our patrons of Apogaea 08. We appreciate the support and enthusiasm for our camp over the last four years. As you all know it takes a lot of work and every year it was truly worth the effort. Thank you to the Tom Kats for joining the adventure and adding the Tom-catery to our little group. We say thanks especially to our Resident DJ Milk. “All Pussies love Milk” and he was there from the start and we thank him personally. Milkman brought together some of the funkiest grooves and this year was one of the BEST. Speaking of THANKS to all who shared their expertise behind the table-Yahya, Schmid-E, Earth, Xara Kitty, Eyeamone, Timmy and this years incredible additions of Ishe, Dirty Chavez, and the Incredible MLE!

We couldn’t have done any of it without help from overwhelming Pussie supporters and the list is huge. So please know that all who have come to our parties or lifted a whisker in any way we thank you so much.

There is always a reunion tour possible and we hope to continue rockin’ out with some parties in the future but for now we say “Long Live The Pink Pussie Palace at Apogaea-BM CO Regional. We look forward to supporting the next Big Pink (or Yellow, Or Ultramarine, Or Baby Diaper Green) Thing.

Whoo-hoo! I had no idea what to expect. Beautiful, beautiful.

Some highlights, for me.

Experiencing gifting like that.

The Greeters. 'Nuff said. ;)

Getting out of the hammock in Syncopation Jason's to go find Mama Cat to give her my skirt, and *poof* there she is coming down the road. I take off my skirt there in the road and gift it to her, acknowledging her awesome, lovely attitude. How many chances does a guy get in this life to give a very fine woman the skirt off his body, eh?

Raphael, the jazz drummer, thank you kindly for the sweet jams at Jason's. And Jason, thank you kindly for sharing your space. Thank you to all who joined us for a time there.

My friends Steve and Kayla. who are even -more- wonderful that I thought. Thanks for the invite to Apogaea, guys.

Being the fearsome Parking Badger bedecked in dayglo orange badge of office and getting to meet a whole bunch more of you fine peoples than otherwise.

Important message to Apogaeans

Hola --

You might or might not have heard the rumors flying around. . . there was indeed an excess of police activity at Happy Ass Ranch today. Apogaea staff and some theme camp early arrivals were denied entrance to the property.

While the timing is curious and certainly not optimal for our event, today's events were not related to Apogaea itself. Apogaea organizers have been in contact with law enforcement representatives and were told that the incident should not impact our event. Our team will liaison with the police again tomorrow morning, we will send updates as soon as more details are available. Please stay tuned to this freekquency.

At the moment, there's an advance squad of Apogaeans whoopin' it up in Lake George, so rest assured our spirits not been significantly dampened by today's events. My crew just loaded up our truck, and you'd better believe it's headed somewhere far from Earth.

Calling all Apogaea Art and Theme Camps

The Apogaea Cup camp wants you to "adopt-a-hole"! There are 4 of the astroturf greens left for adoption, and 9 object-based holes available. Adopting a hole means that your art or theme camp will be part of the Happy Ass Golf Course, and you may choose to have the hole play near, around, or through your art or camp.
If you are awarded one on the remaining astroturf greens, the head or assistant greens keeper will discuss pin placement with you, and install the hole, grass, and flagstick.
We will be installing astroturf holes Thursday morning, if you are one of these 9 holes; please discuss placement with me before Wednesday night, or have someone there that I can talk to by 1pm Thursday. Otherwise, we will place the hole where we feel is appropriate.
If you want to be one of the object based holes, your art or camp name will be placed on the tee marker, and a small flag or ribbon will be placed on the object selected as the hole.
Tee times will be from dawn till dusk, with a couple "special secret night games" during the weekend. The Apogaea cup golf and frisbee tournaments will be starting at 10am Friday for golf, 4:20pm Friday for frisbee, and 10 am Saturday for golf.

If the sound of boisterous competition during mid-day is a problem for you, you can also choose to "reject -a-hole" and we will do our best to avoid your camp (or art) when setting up the golf course.

Just wanted to let you know of a couple events at Apo this year
involving T'shirts, and that you wanna BRING SOME WITH YOU to
participate!!

First up- in the spirit of being GREEN and reducing, reusing, etc.
the Green Screen Project will be hosting T Shirt RECONSTRUCTION!
Did you know that if all textile production were to stop today, there
would still be enough fiber and fabric to clothe the world for the
next 20 YEARS!!
Be the cutting edge of green AND fashion, and learn about re-using
and re-fashioning and explore the DIY punk aesthetic.

Bring your tired, old, boring t'Shirts of any color or print, and
give them new life by turning them into funky, cool, and earth-
friendly garments (such as skirts, arm gauntlets, comfy corsettes,
bags, hats, and of course- great new shirts!!).
The Green Screen will provide a space for the Franken-stining of your
shirts, directions for some easy, quick, and cool projects, and
provide a couple pairs of scissors, *some* needle and thread, and
some safety pins (extras are appreciated!!). Be creative and bring
funky buttons, pins, cord/rope/thread/twine, etc to experiment with,
and add your own flavor to your creations!!

MANY of the projects are NO-SEW!!
So, no need to be intimidated by minimal sewing skills... if you can
cut, rip, tie, or pin things, you're in DIY business!!

Friday and Saturday afternoon at the GSP, we will be hosting
workshops on how to decontruct and reconstruct and walk you through a
couple easy projects (along with time to go crazy on your own), so
bring your shirts!! There will be time throughout the whole event
between other workshops and lectures for drop-in re-fashioning too,
so come by and check it out!

T'shirt donations will be accepted at this weekend's Zoolander Party
at the Blue Steel Bar and at the GSP during Apo for the workshops as
well, so if you have some t'shirts ready for a new home, bring 'em
on!!

The second item involving t'thirts... the Black Light Play Area will
be hosting flourescent stenciling for shirts (or jackets, pants,
etc). Use our stencils, or create one, and make a glow-tastic garment
with our flourescent paints, fabric markers, etc.

Put these 2 things together, and you can make your own fantabulous
earth friendly costume/outfit, paint it up, and enter the Blacklight
Fashion Show at the Blacklight Play Area Friday night!!

The idea behind this performance is to conjure and unleash the chaotic ecstatic mammal beast that exists within all of us. It is essential that all performers are capable of listening while still letting go and releasing as much energy as possible. Good rhythm skills are a plus.

This will be a completely raw unrehearsed intentional performance with the objective being to elicit a raw unrehearsed intentional catharsis for all those who experience it.

Volunteer Opportunities!

Thanks to everyone who has already signed up for volunteer shifts at
Apo! We still have a lot of fun shifts to fill, so check out the
volunteer schedule at www.apogaea.com.

You can register online and schedule yourself for (most) shifts on
the website. If you have any questions or difficulties at all, just
shoot an email to volunteers [at] apogaea.com

Currently, we are hoping to fill some of the info booth shifts that
are listed on the calendar. At info booth, you can sit in the shaded
area, kick back and help recruit and sign up on-site volunteers,
answer people's questions and call on the radio for any needed Ranger
or 1st Aid help. We'll provide you with the answers to many common
questions, so anyone is welcome to help out in this role.

by the top floor at the last Gog party, Metatron’s Cube,
and Fruit of Life from the past two years at Apo .

This year we are planning something much bigger –
an installation of the night sky with 3-dimensional
constellations suspended above people’s heads.
This will be set up in the lower valley of Happy Ass Ranch .

We applied for an art grant this year, as in the past.
Unfortunately, Apo doesn’t have enough money to fully
fund all art projects, and the grant we received covers
only about a quarter of the amount we need. So instead
of abandoning our dream, we decided to raise money
the old-fashioned way – by having a fundraiser. :)

Please join us for an Apogaea art benefit on Friday March 21st, 10pm-5am .

Please come help us make this project a reality!
And while at it, have some fun and dance the night away
with the sounds of your favorite local artists and DJs playing
breaks, techno, psytrance, and IDM.

Come out and meet your community! Meet the Burning Man RC's from
Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Summit County. We will also
have a couple of visiting BM staff members as our special guests.

This potluck is an opportunity to sit with your Burning Man Regional
Contacts, ask us questions, suggest projects that you have an interest
in, introduce your BM granted art project and solicit help, weigh in
on Apogaea, the Recompression and the Decompression, connect up with
leaders of theme camps on the playa, etc. We know that you want to
have a voice in the future of your community, so come and speak up!

The building that we are meeting in has an indoor, heated pool and hot
tub so bring your swim suits. There is a pool table and ping-pong as
well. So, cook up your favorite dish and come out of your winter
hibernation!

As an added incentive, (this is absolutely a bribe, because we really
want to everyone to come :) we brought back piles of Burning Man
schwag from the Regional Summit. There will bee free stickers,
postcards, posters, and buttons for everyone!

THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

PARKING:
Behind the building in the alley between Pennsylvania and Pearl, on
the 8th Ave end, is a parking lot. It is marked with "Don't park here
or you will be towed" signs. You can park there. (It's rented out to
an office during the week, but is fair game on weekends)

ENTRANCE:
YOU WILL NOT WANT TO ENTER THE MAIN FRONT DOOR! Along the front of the
building you will see a large rack of bikes. Behind that is a set of
steps leading down to a door. This is the entrance that you want.

BRING:
Please bring your own plates, utensils, beer/drinks, cups, and a dish
to share. If the weather is amicable, we will have a grill going.
Don't forget a swim suit and a towel, last time we had to scrounge up
shorts for the people who hadn't intended to swim but were enticed by
the warm steamy hot tub. :)

Looking for used turf and golf clubs

Hey everybody,
I'm going to be creating "The Apogaea Cup" - "Open Invitational Wiffle Golf Tournament" at Apogaea this year. It will be Colorado's premier undergorund wifffle golf course & event.
In addition to looking for people who are interested in playing and helping, I'm searching for about a dozen used golf clubs. Looking for Right and Left handed clubs, preferably irons between #3 and #9, adult and junior. Old, dinged, dusty, and rusty, clubs are perfect for this application.

Also looking for used or new pieces of artificial grass for the putting greens. Any size, shape, color, or length of old turf or outdoor carpet is usable, as I will be trying to create greens with multiple types of turf, to simulate different lengths of grass.
I've found a carpet store in Dalton, GA that has a large selection of artificial turf at decent prices, but, if I can find some scraps or used turf for free or cheap, that would be awesome.

Kids Camp needs a new ringleader and is looking for someone who is a child at heart, but has the sense of an adult to keep it all in line, making sure both the little people and the BIG people can have a safe and enjoyable event.

The organizer of Kids Camp has stepped down this year, leaving the position open. This is YOUR community and YOUR camp, so step right up and make sure it happens! If you have loved Kids Camp in the past, this is your time to make sure the dream continues. If you've hated it in the past, this is your time to get involved and make it what you want it to be.

Kids Camp has traditionally been a fun place for families to camp, where they can share child care responsibilities and engage in youth friendly activities. Puppet shows, balloon animals, tie dye, snacks, hooping, camp building, bubble blowing, water fights, art projects, story telling, underwater basket weaving, or building an entire theme camp around kid's camp! (e.g. Munchkinland)... the ideas are endless! What will it be this year? It’s up to you.

You probably don't need to be reminded about tomorrow night's festivities, but I did think it worthwhile to mention that the ladies of the PPP have been knocking out all the stops for this particular shinidig. They've even been bustin' out the power tools (not that kind of power tool you filthy animal) for this event. Just thought you should know. . .

We have a wicked heavy funk line-up on tap, including Earth, Yahya, SchmidE vs. Xarakitty, the lovely MLE and yours truly. And along with some other stimulating additions that we'll mum for now, we're also welcoming a performance from Orange Peel Moses, who's making the show in spite of his recent battle with the knife. What would you like to do for this years event

I know Apogaea is over 4 months away, but do you have any crazy fun ideas you want to share. The best way to make your dreams reality are to put them on paper, so let's start sharing ideas. Earth and I are thinking about doing a white elephant exchange, christmas tree and all! Bring something burnerish you don't use (nothing crappy) be it costumes, camping gear, or gifts and share it with your CO community. Let's turn the gift economy into community, and have some fun doing it. I see stories and adventures being told about these gifts, as well as lots of friends being made.

If you'd like to be involved in a high-fashion runway show that's creative, fun, and benefits the creative community, now is your chance.

Deadline to sign up: February 1, 2008.

ADCD is now signing up teams to design paper fashion creations to be modeled in our runway show on March 20th, 2008.

What is the ADCD Paper Fashion Show?
Teams sign up to design fashions created from paper that's donated by our sponsors. These fashions are then showcased at our grand runway show, and voted on by our panel of judges. The fashions are then put up for auction to raise money for the charitable recipient benefiting from the event.

Event specifics:
Designs may be for men or women. Your designs will be showcased by runway models—you may provide your own model, or we can provide talent for you. We will also provide hair and make-up services for models if needed. The event will feature a social where attendees can mix & mingle; the highlight of the event being the runway show featuring local entertainment and your paper fashions being modeled and voted on by our panel of judges.

You may have as many people on your team as you wish - and there is no cost for participating. However, a maximum of 4 people per team will receive free admission, any additional team members receive the discounted ticket price of $10 (standard tickets are $25).

Final teams will be assigned the first week in February, so if you are interested in participating and creating a paper fashion, please email us at the address below ASAP, and we'll get in touch with you to follow up and provide more details and direction.

Metal trash cans and other "STOMP" like percussion needed for three

Me and my two hommies just got a gig in Telluride for a stomp influenced percussion session for a few days at the ski and snowboard festival. We have tons of percussion toys but never knew a metal trash can would cost so much. in which case we need your help. we just want to borrow, if interested, buy. None the less the event is the 13 & 14 of December. Any can, buckets or anything you feel is fun to hit with a drum stick in a rhythmic motion. Let us know, any help is needed. please be quick so we can have some time to rehearse.
